Because Love is More Than “What Time is the Cake Cutting?”|

Picture this: you've spent months (or maybe years) planning the *ultimate* Muskoka wedding day. You’ve checked every box. Amazing intimate venue? Guests? Invited. Dress? On point. Cake? Taller than your cousin Randy (and twice as sweet). The schedule? Tighter than your dad's 20-year-old tuxedo. And yet, as you’re running from the ceremony to group photos to dodging Aunt Linda’s fifth hug, there’s a little nagging thought in your head. When are you and your partner actually going to *see* each other?

This is where I come in, your friendly Muskoka wedding photographer, and beg you: please take a break with your new spouse! Yes, a mini escape from the madness, to just breathe and *be*.

Why Your Photographer *Wants* You to Take a Breather on Your Wedding Day

You might think your photographer just wants pretty pictures, right? Wrong. I want *real* pictures. Pictures of you both looking in love and blissed-out, *not* the ones where you look like you just got off a caffeine-fueled rollercoaster ride at Guestlandia. So here’s why I’m sneaking you off for some alone time on your big day:

1. *"Can We Get a Picture Where You’re Not Looking Overwhelmed by Aunt Carol?"*

Your wedding day is packed with hugs, well-wishes, and “Are you sure about this?” jokes from your cousin Doug. But *alone* time? That’s when I can capture your “Wow, we actually did it!” faces. This is a golden opportunity for you to decompress from all the “Congrats!” and side-hugs and just *exist*. And trust me, photos where you’re both *just existing* and *just married* are pure magic.

2. *Because Photos of You “Hangry” Aren’t Cute*

Weddings are the only time you’ll skip two meals *voluntarily* – all in the name of ceremony timing. But when it’s just you two, you can indulge in the emergency snack stash (yes, I advise every couple to have one!). I’ll capture those candid shots of you feeding each other a granola bar like it’s a Michelin-star dinner. *Very romantic.*

3. *Unwind So I Don’t End Up With “Cheese Face” Photos*

Let’s face it: by the time we’ve done group photos, couple photos, and every other variation of “stand here and look happy,” your cheeks start cramping, and I start to get the dreaded “cheese face.” You know the look – all smiles, no sparkle. Alone time lets you stop smiling for a second (it’s exhausting!) and then *actually* laugh when you realize you’re finally married. Cue the *real* smiles!

4. *A Wedding Album is Not Complete Without Snuggle Shots*

Sure, everyone loves the traditional shots of you looking glamorous with friends and family, but they don’t call them “snuggle shots” for nothing. Give me five minutes with just the two of you, and I’ll get those cuddly, “I can’t believe I married my best friend” photos. It’s the kind of adorable evidence you’ll look back on every anniversary when you need to remind yourselves of why you put up with each other’s Netflix choices.

5. *Your Fans Will Forgive You for a Few Minutes*

Let’s be real – every guest secretly loves it when the bride and groom vanish for a bit. It gives them the freedom to sneak a third drink or debate the cake flavor without judgment. And while they’re distracted, you two get the rare gift of five blissful minutes to just... *be.* Don’t worry, they’ll still be there when you get back, probably just a little louder.

So, trust me when I say: a quick break from the party for a private “we did it” moment makes all the difference. And your wedding album – along with your nerves – will thank you later!
